FinTech events in the UAE and GCC

Which Gulf events carry real regulator access, and which are exhibitions with good coffee.

TL;DR

The Gulf has more financial services events per capita than anywhere else, and they are not interchangeable. A small number are hosted by regulators and financial centres, which means the policy conversation on stage is the actual policy conversation. The rest are commercial exhibitions, which is a legitimate and useful thing to be, but a different one.

The distinction matters more here than in most markets, because the Gulf's financial centres compete with each other for licensing and capital, and their events are instruments of that competition. Attending the right one puts you in front of the authority that will license you. Attending the wrong one puts you in a hall full of vendors.

Key points

  • Abu Dhabi Finance Week and the Dubai FinTech Summit are the two UAE events with documented regulator and policymaker depth.
  • Money20/20 Middle East in Riyadh is hosted by SAMA and the Capital Market Authority, which makes it the serious venue for Saudi market entry.
  • Bahrain's Fintech Forward is small by design, around 2,000 people, with the highest ministerial and central bank access per attendee in the region.
  • Several widely listed events have moved dates recently. Check before booking.

A note on dates

Three of the events below changed dates in 2026. Seamless Middle East moved from May to September, the Dubai FinTech Summit moved from May to November, and both GITEX and its fintech track moved from October to December and changed venue. We have given the dates we could verify from the organiser, and flagged where we could not. If you are planning travel, confirm directly rather than relying on any secondary listing, including this one.

The regulator-hosted tier

Abu Dhabi Finance Week Organised by Abu Dhabi Global Market, held across the ADGM district on Al Maryah Island. The fourth edition ran 8 to 11 December 2025 and drew more than 35,000 attendees across 68 events and 394 sessions, with 819 speakers and 175 nationalities.

The fifth edition runs 7 to 10 December 2026, expanded to 75 events across 8 stages, with regulators from more than 50 countries expected and a Global Financial Regulators Summit on the programme. The Arab Monetary Fund convenes its Regional FinTech Working Group there.

This is the highest-density regulator access in the Gulf. Fintech is present but subordinate to capital markets, asset management and sovereign capital, so judge it by whether institutional money and regulatory contact are what you need.

Dubai FinTech Summit Organised by the Dubai International Financial Centre at Madinat Jumeirah. The third edition, 12 to 13 May 2025, drew around 9,200 participants from 118 countries with more than 300 speakers, 200 exhibitors, 1,000 investors and, on the organiser's figures, over 50 regulators and government authorities.

The fourth edition was rescheduled from May to 2 to 3 November 2026, and now anchors Dubai Future Finance Week running 2 to 6 November, with 85 events and over 850 speakers across the city.

Documented participation has included the acting chair of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the Secretary General of the Financial Stability Board and several central bank governors. For a fintech weighing a DIFC licence, this is the most efficient week of the year.

Money20/20 Middle East, Riyadh Hosted by Saudi Arabia's Financial Sector Development Program with the Saudi Central Bank, the Capital Market Authority and the Insurance Authority, and co-organised by Tahaluf and Fintech Saudi. It is the successor to 24 Fintech, folded into the Money20/20 portfolio.

The inaugural edition, 15 to 17 September 2025, drew more than 38,500 attendees with 450 speakers from 41 countries, over 1,050 investors and $4.6 billion in announced deals. The second edition ran 14 to 16 September 2026; final attendance figures had not been published at the time of writing. A 2027 edition has been reported for 14 to 16 September, from a single source, so treat it as indicative.

Because the regulator hosts it, the policy signalling is real. Two SAMA deputy governors spoke in 2026. For anyone considering Saudi market entry, sandbox participation or a licence conversation, this is the event.

Fintech Forward, Bahrain Organised by the Bahrain Economic Development Board with the Central Bank of Bahrain and Bahrain FinTech Bay, at Exhibition World Bahrain, with Forbes Middle East as programming partner for 2026 in place of Economist Impact in 2025. The third edition concluded 9 October 2025 with around 2,000 attendees and 38 memoranda and agreements signed. The fourth runs 7 to 8 October 2026. The organiser had not published a senior speaker list at the time of writing, so confirm the programme before committing.

Small by design, and that is the argument for it. Two thousand people with the central bank governor present produces a different kind of access than thirty-five thousand does. For a firm seriously considering Bahrain, it is the most direct route to the regulator in the region.

The commercial exhibitions

These are useful, and the usefulness is commercial rather than regulatory. We found no documented regulator speaker lists for any of them.

Fintech Surge, Dubai. Part of Expand North Star, powered by GITEX, organised by KAOUN International. The 2025 edition ran 12 to 15 October at Dubai Harbour. The 2026 edition runs 8 to 10 December at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo City, following the host platform's move, confirmed by the organiser alongside GITEX Global. Organiser figures cite 150 or more fintech exhibitors, 100 speakers, 500 investors and 40 countries, inside a host platform that drew over 2,000 exhibiting startups in 2025.

Strong for investor access and startup deal flow at volume, with a heavy digital assets crossover. Not a policy venue.

Seamless Middle East, Dubai. Organised by Terrapinn at Dubai World Trade Centre. The organiser's published figures of 20,000 attendees, 750 exhibitors and 800 speakers are projections rather than post-event counts, and we could not find audited actuals for either recent edition. The 2026 edition was postponed from May and held 22 to 24 September 2026. Terrapinn has signalled a 2027 edition but had not published dates at the time of writing.

The most commercially transactional of the Dubai shows, and the best for payments, merchant acquiring, remittance and retail technology vendor discovery.

GITEX Global, Dubai. The 45th edition ran 13 to 17 October 2025 with 6,800 exhibiting companies from 180 countries. The 2026 edition moves to Expo City Dubai, with the summit day on 7 December and the expo 8 to 11 December; the venue's own listing gives 8 to 11 December, so the discrepancy is the summit day.

Fintech content is deliberately housed in Fintech Surge rather than the main halls. Banks attend GITEX proper as enterprise technology buyers. If fintech is your purpose, work the Expand North Star side.

LEAP, Riyadh. Enormous, 201,000 attendees at the February 2025 edition, and weak on fintech specifically. The 2026 edition moved to 31 August to 3 September and was dominated by AI infrastructure and sovereign compute. The next is confirmed for 12 to 15 April 2027. For Saudi fintech, Money20/20 Middle East is the better allocation.

Web Summit Qatar, Doha. The third edition, 31 January to 3 February 2026, drew 30,274 attendees with 1,637 startups and 931 investors from 127 countries. The fourth runs 31 January to 3 February 2027. Generalist technology with fintech as a theme rather than a track, and useful for early-stage contact in Qatar.

Two worth knowing about

World Governments Summit, Dubai. Held 3 to 5 February 2026. Not a fintech event, but the Arab Fiscal Forum runs alongside it, with its tenth edition on 2 February 2026 featuring the IMF Managing Director. Relevant if your interest is fiscal and monetary policy at ministerial level rather than commercial fintech.

Saudi Financial Sector Conference. Hosted by the Ministry of Finance, the Saudi Central Bank and the Capital Market Authority. The second edition was held 15 to 16 March 2023 and no edition has been announced since. The same three bodies now host Money20/20 Middle East, which appears to have become the de facto platform. We found no statement that the conference has been discontinued.

How we would use the calendar

For a DIFC or UAE licensing conversation: Dubai FinTech Summit, now in early November.

For institutional capital, asset management or the broadest regulator contact: Abu Dhabi Finance Week in December.

For Saudi market entry: Money20/20 Middle East in Riyadh, in September. Not LEAP.

For Bahrain: Fintech Forward in October, where the access per attendee is unmatched.

For payments and merchant technology procurement: Seamless Middle East.

For hiring: none of them directly, for the same reason we give on the India events page. Senior candidates do not change jobs because of a conference conversation. What these events are genuinely good for in a talent context is understanding which firms are building out in which centre, which is the intelligence that makes a subsequent search sharper. Gulf fintech hiring remains a mapped and directly approached exercise, and our regional work is described in FinTech executive search in the UAE.

Common questions

What is the biggest fintech event in the UAE?

By attendance, GITEX Global and its Expand North Star platform, though fintech content there sits in the Fintech Surge track rather than the main halls. By relevance to financial services leadership, Abu Dhabi Finance Week is the larger of the two serious events, drawing over 35,000 attendees across 68 events in its December 2025 edition, with the Dubai FinTech Summit the more fintech-specific at around 9,200 participants.

Which Gulf fintech events have real regulator participation?

Abu Dhabi Finance Week, organised by ADGM, with a Global Financial Regulators Summit on its 2026 programme and regulators from more than 50 countries expected. The Dubai FinTech Summit, organised by DIFC, which has hosted central bank governors and the Financial Stability Board Secretary General. Money20/20 Middle East in Riyadh, hosted by the Saudi Central Bank and the Capital Market Authority. And Fintech Forward in Bahrain, with the Central Bank of Bahrain Governor confirmed for 2026.

Should we attend LEAP or Money20/20 Middle East for Saudi Arabia?

Money20/20 Middle East, if your interest is fintech. It is hosted by the Saudi Central Bank, the Capital Market Authority and the Insurance Authority, which makes the regulatory conversation genuine, and the inaugural 2025 edition drew 38,500 attendees with $4.6 billion in announced deals. LEAP is vastly larger but fintech is one topic among many, and its 2026 edition was dominated by AI infrastructure and data centres.

When are the main 2026 and 2027 Gulf fintech events?

Fintech Forward Bahrain, 7 to 8 October 2026. Dubai FinTech Summit, 2 to 3 November 2026, within Dubai Future Finance Week running 2 to 6 November. GITEX Global and Fintech Surge, December 2026 at Expo City Dubai. Abu Dhabi Finance Week, 7 to 10 December 2026. Web Summit Qatar, 31 January to 3 February 2027. LEAP Riyadh, 12 to 15 April 2027. Seamless Middle East, 24 to 26 May 2027. Several of these moved in 2026, so confirm with the organiser before booking.

Are Gulf fintech events useful for hiring?

Not directly. Senior fintech candidates in the Gulf, as elsewhere, do not change roles because of a conference conversation, and the people worth hiring are rarely attending as job seekers. What the events do provide is a read on which firms are expanding into which financial centre, which teams are being built and where capability is concentrating. That intelligence sharpens a subsequent search, but the search itself remains a mapped and directly approached exercise.
