Executive search practices

Six practices and five specialisms, each built around a specific part of the trading, FinTech and frontier technology talent market.

TL;DR

SYTalent is a specialist executive search firm for high-frequency trading, quantitative finance, trading technology, FinTech and investment leadership. We run retained and confidential searches across India, Singapore, the UAE, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia and Japan, for more than 65 clients.

The work is organised into six practices and five specialisms. The distinction matters when you brief us: a practice is a market we cover end to end, from individual contributor to C-suite. A specialism is a narrower capability that cuts across practices, where the candidate pool is small enough to be searched name by name.

Why specialist rather than generalist

Three things make these searches different from general technology recruitment, and all three are reasons a generalist shortlist disappoints.

The titles travel badly. A quant at one firm does signal research and at another writes production C++. A Head of Payments can be an operations seat, a merchant P&L or a bank product role. A brief assembled from the title alone produces candidates nobody wants to interview.

The pools are small and passive. For most of the roles below, the people who can do the job are employed, not looking, and number in the dozens rather than the thousands in any given market. They have to be mapped and approached individually.

The regulator is sometimes the hiring manager. For control functions at a regulated entity, the reporting line, tenure and eligibility conditions are set outside your company, which narrows the pool before compensation is even discussed.

How we search sets out how we handle all three.
